good evening， honorable judges， ladies and gentlemen。

it’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—change the world，change ourselves。

it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day byday， while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected。

not longbefore about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announcedthat we should reject the invasion of western holidays ，because they regardwestern holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals andculture。

frankly speaking， i don’t quite agree with them。indeed， we should neverneglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brillianthistory and splendid traditions。

(examples)。but why can’t we absorb themeaningful western holidays and culture。

there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china。on the one hand， some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have arereasonable and meaningful， such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc。

on theother hand，the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail inchina。

overwhelmed by such a trend，chinese unconsiciously get involved inwestern holidays and culture。

with the further development of the whole world， the cultural communicationbetween different countries and nations becomes faster and more and moreimportant。

we are indeed from different nations， but we are the citizens of thesame world， so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealthof everyone on the earth。the only way for us to protect our traditional cultureis to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no。

what we ought todo is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure oursplendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture。

only by educating canwe set our confidence and belief towards our culture。

only by educating can wepreserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us。

at last i’d like to share a famouse saying of gandhi with all of you ，thatis：if you want to change the world， then you must change yourself first。”

My favourite super star is JJ ， he has a lovely dimple and his eyes are alsovery lovely 。

Now let me tell you the story about JJ 。

He enterde the music indestry at the year 2004 ， before that year ，he wasonly a boy who wrote songs for many super stars ，his songs were liked by manypeople but no one care who was the writer 。

He was noly hard to write songsbecause he like music ，he thought music has it soal ， if you sing it by heart ，it well be lived。

I like a song of him ， it's name is CRIES IN A DISTANCE ， the song tells us，nothing is sad if we belive the hope 。

He has many difficulty ， but his songsays ， cries in a distance ， can't stop the tremble ， I'm just waiting my turn ，hiding will never ， save me forever ， the guns gonne get me for sure 。

Dear godI pray why won't you be my friend ， e to me and take my hand ，like mama wouldsay everything will be ok。

Now he is not rather a shy singer and performer ， the lyrical songs make himmature ，and now he is a man or not a boy。

He is a real super star with many fans ，the improve mark a big step forwardconfident。

The tempo of modern civilization has been much quickened in the last twentyyears。

While witnessing the dramatic changes in the better-off society， peoplebegin to reconsider the question of "survival"。

"Survival" in the old sense doesnot bother us anymore。

Instead， we are more concerned about how to "survive" inthe human world full of petition。

Competition always carries abreast challenges and opportunities to everyoneinvolved。

It might appear in an entrance exam， in a regular class， or in a smallpublic speech。

Those who fail to detect its real nature-whether an opportunityor a challenge a petition really is- will lose something more or less conduciveto our growth。

Of course， if we take the petition as an opportunity， we willfavor it intentionally because they can help us outstand from the average; theywill make us bee the focus of public attention; they will grant us more chancesand rights to succeed。

As a matter of fact， opportunities are supposed to bemore perceptible and weling than challenges。

The truth is， however， we will losemore opportunities when we choose to take the "opportunity" fork at thecrossroads。

The other fork， ignored by us and defined as "fearful challenges"，offers much more chances for the walker in petition。

We have such an inclination in life to overestimate ourselves and hold athoughtless attitude towards the negative outlook of things。

We believe in the old saying， "Opportunity knocks but just once，" so wealways wele it and devote all our spirit and efforts to it。

The most devoutbeliever of this saying are the graduates。

Why? There are quite a number of themwho pay full attention to positions in big cities and are willing to flood intodeveloped areas under any circumstances， even though there will be too muchuncertainty for their choices。

Innumerable cases go straight to the samemiserable end: God seems to refuse to help too many of His worshipers。

In conclusion， to define the quuality of petition seems to be far fromvaluable sense， for no matter what a petition is， an opportunity or a challenge，it will create nutritious elements for our growth。

So take a positive look at everything around。

Keep our face to the sunshine，and we will not see the shadows。

As the saying goes， what wakes you up in the morning is not your alarm clock，but you dream. The future is unknowable， but dream give us the direction somemoment maybe the reality is harsh and you are suffering much. If you have adream， even a very small one， it will light your life in the darkness and keepyou hiding from the reality， for dream will give you the energy to fight.

However， sometimes it seems that what is practical and sensible does notconnect with your most treasured dreams. I am a freshman ，indeed my college lifeis not as colorful as imagined before，all plans and goals just be hung up。I’mvery afraid that even if I graduated from college， I still couldn’t find a joband then had a better life. Faced with the cruel reality，we college studentsshould really make good use of these facilities and learn as much usefulknowledge as possible。Then after graduation， we would find it’s much easier toget a decent job.

When I am a little girl，my father gave me two cups filled with soil，he askedme to water one cup every day。Two weeks later，tender leaves appeared in the cupthat I watered everyday。Father said to me：“The seed represents for yourdream，without sweat and effort，it won’t come out no means will your dream turninto reality if you never pay for it.”

From this story I learn that If I intend to full my dreams ，I must workhard，make efforts ，and get prepared ，otherwise I will get no possibility tosucceed.

Time flies!Our freshmen have spent two months in our beautiful campus of ___ university. Every new beginning is a new can't expect anything to be the same asour erent envirenment is a new are always curious with the things gh we comefrom different placeswe have our own dream our own ambition our own the mankindis sometimes so fragile that it can't withstand outside lure.

Many students are the first time to be so far away form come to a foreigncity a foreign campus facing so many foreign but friendly ty of activities bringus fresh air and pleasant busy with study and work enriches our lifehelpingpreventing our homesick.

Life in campus is different with that in elementary school and middle havemuch spare time dominated by our campus is just like another le from all cornersof our country come together to form a big e are tears as well as have troublesbut we are also learning to conquer become more and more brave and more and moreare no longer the little baby that will never grow up in our parents are growingup day by day.

I love the life in our university. We have a new starting point a new originand a period of a brand new freshmen life is se wait and see our brilliantachievement!
