买好的肉片必须大小均匀，并且裹好精准比列的淀粉棉衣，另一边的配菜——胡萝卜、姜丝必须细得仿佛能挤过针眼，才刚做好基础工作。接着是下锅，这是最具挑战性的一步。只见爷爷先在锅中铺满一层金黄的油，然后等到油开始活跃，发出“噼哩啪啦”的声音时，倒入胡萝卜丝姜丝与调料，他那专属的锅铲有力地将它们调合，不时地有油渍溅到爷爷那只与锅铲相伴十几年的手上，最后倒入裹着棉衣的肉片，炸三至五分钟，待到肉片蓬松而金黄，在锅中再一次又一次地翻爬，锅内才会呈现出一片被期待良久的鲜脆酥黄。锅包肉由此出锅。
我望着锅包肉，眼中的黯淡被金色的锅包肉点亮，慢慢地发光。爷爷把散发着甜甜味道的锅巴肉送到我面前，瞥了一眼被我蹂躏的不像样子的试卷，不善言辞的他第一次语重心长地说：“孙女儿啊，这人啊，就像你最爱吃的锅包肉，若不在锅里翻一两个身，又怎么能如此的鲜脆可口？”我怔住了，看向爷爷，却发现他手上又新增了两个创可贴的痕迹。那一刹那，这个木讷*凡的老人着实影响了我。
爷爷做饭做了十几年，其间的尝试可以说失败过上百次。而每次的失败，带给他的不仅有伤口，更有别人的不解与劝他放弃。可是他却总是积极地寻找原因，有好几次足足一整天待在厨房里，直到满头大汗拿着他的“新产品”给我们试吃。
